As I was writing, I was taking notes. There is so much more that I could've included but I thought I'd address some of these additional strategies in the form of follow up blog posts. This one is the first.
As with anything, there are always ways to maximize what you're doing and make it better. Doing more than just the basics, tweaking to make sure you get every ounce out of the experience, that's what this post is about.

Fill Your Store
It just makes sense...the more items you have for sale, the more items customers can buy. Knowing that not every visitor to your shop will like or be looking for what you have listed means that in order to generate constant sales, you need to have as many items as possible in your shop at any given time.
Sell Large & Small Items
Large pieces of furniture are shipped via White Glove shipping. This can be a very slow process – up to 8 weeks from the time the sale is made until it is finally delivered - and you aren’t getting paid until it’s delivered.
Small items as defined by Chairish are items that can fit in a box. When these items sell, Chairish sends you a shipping label, you put it in a box, drop it at the local UPS shipping center and off it goes. It’s usually delivered in 1-3 days and you get paid a couple days after that. It’s a much quicker turnaround resulting it payment in days rather than weeks.
Ship Via Small Package Shipping Whenever Possible
As mentioned above, small package shipping is much faster and payment much quicker, but small items don’t need to be just vases and home décor.
Take a look at the maximum measurements and you’ll see that a small side table, chair, ottoman, etc. can all be sent via this method. Don’t assume that just because it’s a piece of furniture, it needs to be sent via White Glove Shipping.
Bottom line: The shipping process (and payment) is much quicker with small package shipping, use it whenever possible.
Have a Pricing Strategy that Leaves Room for Markdowns
It’s important to tend to your shop on Chairish. Keep an eye on items that have a lot of followers. These people have indicated their interest in this item and will receive notifications about it.
For example, you have a hutch with 20 people loving it, each one of these people will be notified directly by Chairish every time you take a markdown on the item. These emails can be the ‘nudge’ a follower may need to become a buyer.
Keep Your Finger on the Pulse
What is trending in high-end design? What is trending on Chairish? Chairish isn’t a ‘yard sale’ buyers aren’t looking for cheap, they’re looking for cool, stylish, classic, etc. The Chairish buyer has sophisticated taste, so follow what’s trending in high end design. If I don’t look at anything else, I flip through Architectural Digest once a month so I know what my buyer is interested in.
It's important to remember that just like a brick and mortar store. As the owner of the shop you need to make sure that it’s filled with fantastic, unique items that will keep customers coming back and will encourage customers to buy. In addition, just like advertising is necessary to keep your store in front of your customers, you need to ‘advertise’ your online shop, too. The easiest and cheapest (it’s free!) way to do this on Chairish is by taking markdowns
